ABOUT
I'm visionaries
Mission
I believe art is more than just an expression—it’s a bridge between nature and emotion, a way to connect people to the world around them. My vision is to create artwork that not only reflects the beauty of the landscapes I explore but also inspires others to see nature through a new lens.
Through my paintings, exhibitions, and community efforts, I aim to ignite a deeper appreciation for art and the natural world, fostering a sense of wonder, connection, and creativity in every viewer.
My Journey
Since 1995
My work is guided by intuition, shaped through the study of natural and recycled materials gathered in non-destructive ways and transformed into organic forms. Time in the woods deepens my understanding of each material’s origins, patterns, and textures. What begins as chance evolves through impulse, allowing forms to grow and shift organically.
Working on multiple pieces at once lets me translate ideas across mediums, moving fluidly between materials and dimensions. My process is tactile and spontaneous, inviting both maker and viewer into an exploration of texture, form, and rhythm. Just as nature adapts through cycles of growth and decay, my work embraces change as the only constant. By surrendering to improvisation and using natural, recycled elements, I engage holistically in this ongoing cycle.
Since relocating near Mt. Lassen, I’ve studied with local plein air painters while exploring the vast landscapes of Northern California. Many of my works incorporate a natural, handmade encaustic medium I’ve been refining for four years. The process itself is sensory and grounding—creating the medium on a hot griddle, breathing in the beeswax, and applying it in layers that echo the environment.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from The Ohio State University (2013) and moved to California in 2015 with my partner, a fisheries biologist. Alongside my studio practice, I teach classes near Redding, CA, spend weekends painting outdoors, camping, and fishing, and engage deeply with my community. I manage the Homeless Art Project with the Shasta County Arts Council and serve as Treasurer of Inwood Community Farm, a nonprofit dedicated to providing food and education for those in need.
